The aging population is at increased risk for folate deficiency, which may contribute to cognitive decline. Epidemiologic studies show that relative deficiencies of vitamin B12 and folate are associated with Alzheimer’s disease (AD), whereas independent case–control studies have established an association between elevated serum homocysteine (Hcy) levels and AD. read more & comment
