Death of Club DJ Highlights Difficulty of Treating Pain in Recovering Addicts

By all indications, New York club icon DJ AM had a firm grip on his drug problem. A self-professed recovering crack cocaine addict, the 36-year-old celebrity DJ (whose real name was Adam Goldstein) said he had been clean for more than a decade, and was even starring in a new reality series in which he tried to intervene in the lives of other drug addicts.
